The BWPL Championship 1 kicked off in Walsall last weekend. Lutra went in looking to continue their unbeaten run after 7 wins from 7 in Phase 1 of the competition.

Congrats to dream team Otter Lutra who have finished Phase 1 of the BWPL at the top of the Division 1 Table. Lutra were undefeated in the competition with 7 wins in as many games. Tyldesley (12-7 Win), Liverpool Liver Birds (10-7 Win), Manchester Comets (11-8 Win), Welsh Wanderers (13-8 Win), Penguin Emperors (8-7 Win), Devonport (28-6 Win) & Mid Sussex Marlins (14 - 11 Win).
The team will look to continue their good form in Phase 2 - Championship 1 the new year.
Lutras perfect start
Otter Lutra are top of the Div 2 table after the first weekend of BWPL action. Otter Lutra made it three wins from three women's Division 2 matches at Ponds Forge today, beating Tyldesley 12-7, Liverpool Liverbirds 10-7 & Manchester Comets 11-8.

BWPL Phase 1 fixtures announced
The British Waterpolo League Phase 1 Fixtures have been announced. The Otter Ladies who finished the 2015/16 season 2nd will be playing in the Women's first division again next year, but will have to wait until the last weekend of Phase 1 to play last years Champions Liverpool in a rematch of the 2016 British Championship final. Otter Lutra who will be hoping to reclaim the Championship 1 title again next season will kick off their campaign in September at Ponds Forge. 3 1/2 months till season Otters.

Otter Ladies remain undefeated in London
The Otter Ladies social team won all 3 of their games last night at Whitgift to remain undefeated in Division 1 of the London League after 2 rounds of play. The team shared playing time & goals around with everyone getting on the scorecard on the way to wins vs Mid Sussex Marlins 6-2, Basingstoke 8-1 & Penguin 7-4. The league now has a 1 month break, before the final round of games are played on Sunday 10th of July.
Otter Ladies lead the London League Div 1
Otter ladies kicked off their defence of the Division 1 London Summer League title at Whitgift school last night winning all 3 of their matches.
The Otter team, which is a social team made up from a mix of the Otter 1st, Lutra & NAG junior team kicked off their campaign in style with a 14-0 win against West London Penguin. Before beating Mid Sussex Marlins 5-3 and Basingstoke 13-8. The 4 teams will face each other again on Sunday 22nd May & then again on Sunday 10th July.
Massive thanks to super Otter supporter Daryl Nurthen who did the table for most of the night & helped set up the pitch too. Cheers Daryl. We think you're ace.
Sasha & the England U17 win Bronze
Otter Sasha Tinkler-Davies & the England U17 girls’ water polo team take bronze at the EU Nations Cup 2016 in Odense, Denmark.
The England U17 girls water polo team opened their EU Nations Cup 2016 campaign with two wins and one defeat in the group stages before falling to South Africa in their semi-final. But the 13-strong squad finished the competition on a high note with an impressive 11-6 victory over Malta to see England win bronze at the EU Nations Cup 2016 – an improvement of two places from 12 months ago.
England bounced back from their semi-final defeat with a strong opening quarter against Malta, who had defeated them in the first game of the tournament. Emily Pilkington opened the scoring early before adding a second goal and Rebecca Lee saw England end the first quarter with a 3-1 lead. After winning the second quarter swim-off, Fleur Kennedy scored twice to maintain England’s two goal lead going into halftime (6-4). The team held their lead consistently throughout the third quarter (7-5) before ending on a high with a final goal from Sasha Tinkler-Davies sealing a 11-6 final score and the third place on the rostrum.
Congrats to Sasha & the England team on the Bronze.

Top 2 finish for Otter
Otter have finished the 2016 BWPL season in 2nd place, behind City of Liverpool. Otter needed 2 wins from two games & for Liverpool to stumble against 4th placed Manchester on the final weekend in Sheffield to win. Two strong starts but disappointing 2nd quarters saw Otter go down to Liverpool 10-5 on Saturday, to Coventry 9-5 on Sunday. Claudia, Mhairi & Kathy scored for Otter in both games. The team are now looking forward to British Champs in May, where they will play Coventry in the 2nd vs 3rd play off, with the winner progressing to the final against the winner of 1st v 4th game between Liverpool & Manchester.
Otter Lutra finished their Championship 1 season on a high with two wins from two games. Lutra beat West London Penguins 11-8 in Saturdays game. Sarah Bennett scored 4, Sarah Tollefson & Emma Shkurka scored hatricks, while Lindsey Williams also netted for Lutra. Lutra also won Sundays game against Mid Sussex Marlins 8-6. Sarah Tollefson was once again on fire for Lutra socring another hatrick, with Gari Mulcahy top scoring for the game with 5.
Congrats to both teams on a brilliant season.
