Otter U/17 are National Champions!

London Otter were out in force in the ASA National Age Group Water Polo Championships 2017 U17 Girls’ semi-finals, beating Tyldesley to make their way into Sundays finals. London Otter stormed their way to a second victory, of the day (with the U19s winning earlier in the morning vs Liverpool) this time thanks to their U17 squad. Katie Cutler was the top goalscorer, hitting the back of the net four times as the London side beat Tyldesley 18-3

Despite the U19’s defeat against City of Manchester earlier in the day, the younger squad kept their composure in the final defeating City of Liverpool at their opponents’ home pool to claim the Girls’ U17 National Age Group Water Polo title with a 14-7 win. Katy Cutler showed her goal scoring prowess again, with six of the team’s 14 goals.

At the end of the first quarter the scores were level. Although Otter were first to strike, scoring a point at the hands of Cutler, Liverpool matched them goal for goal. The second quarter was the game changer for the London side as they secured five points and conceded none. This gave them a comfortable lead at half time. Although City of Liverpool’s Molly Boniface-Ashton totted up four goals, Otter swam away with the game winning 14-7.

Congrats to all players who competed in the competition.

And a massive Congratulations to the Otter U/17s team on becoming National Champions again!
